Possessive Pronouns

Los Pronombres Posesivos

Introduction

Introducción

Spanish has two sets of words use for possessives. The possessives adjectives are the words like mi (my) and tu (your) which come before nouns to modify them. The possessive pronouns and adverbs are words the replace the noun with an object already identified in conversation like mio (mine) and tuyo (yours).

To use these as an adverb, you simply add it after the verb:

   ¿Esta es tuya?
   This is yours?

To use these as a pronoun, you add an article before it:

   El tuyo viene.
   Yours is coming.
