Abkhazia is a separatist-controlled, partially-recognized state located along the Black Sea in what is considered on most maps the former Soviet Republic of Georgia. Its northern border is with Russia, who maintains military ties with the Abkhaz government. The official languages are Abkhaz and Russian.
